This is not just a port city; this is the Real Jerusalem, the spiritual and historical epicenter of a displaced nation. As the Charleston historian and Gullah historian, I am leading the Truth Offensive to reclaim a history that has been systematically buried for centuries.
The Truth Offensive: Dismantling the Holy City Facade
For decades, tourism in Charleston has focused on the "Old South" charm, carefully avoiding the raw reality of the slave trade. But we are in the era of Gullah 2.0. This is the prophetic awakening of the Gullah Geechee Culture, a movement that transcends mere heritage to reveal the divine lineage of our people.
At gullah.tours, we don't provide a standard sightseeing experience. We conduct a historical autopsy. We expose the "Blood Root" of Charleston’s history, revealing that the very foundations of this "Holy City" were built by ENSLAVED BLACK AMERICAN INDIANS. These craftsmen, architects, and landowners were the original engineers of the Lowcountry, and their blood speaks from the ground of this sacred geography.
The Real Jerusalem and the Ethiopian Ocean
To understand the present, we must correctly identify the past. Historical records and the 1353 Archive confirm that the Ethiopian Ocean was the original name of the South Atlantic. Furthermore, the true roots of Ethiopia are found right here in North America. When we speak of Charleston as the Real Jerusalem, we are referencing a geography that was known to our ancestors before the maps were redrawn to obscure our identity.
This is the central theme of my book, Charleston Is the Real Jerusalem: The Redemption of Gullah Geechee. It is a call to the Gullah Geechee Heritage to recognize that their displacement was not just a migration of labor, but a prophetic exile. The redemption of the Gullah people is the restoration of this knowledge.
